Subject: iPod Panic mode while docked in iCast Transmitter

I'm occasionally getting strange behaviour out of my iPod touch docked in the iCast transmitter. It could be playing fine for a few hours when all of a sudden it would go in a 'panic' mode where by itself, would start changing to the next track for 2 or 3 seconds, then back to the previous track for another 2 seconds, pause, then next track again, etc. and would not stop until I undock the iPod.

The system is part of a hot tub sound system package where changing to the next track could be controlled remotely. But the same behaviour did occur when the hot tub remote was not being used. When this behaviour starts you cannot stop it from the remote control or manually by pressing the 'stop' and 'play' on the iPod.

Has anyone experienced this behaviour from their docked iPod?

This is an unusual behavior; do you have another product from Soundcast in your house?

It sounds like there’s someone else controlling the playback in another room. If not, then what I suggest is checking your iPod’s connector as it might be dirty or there might be something shorting the pins randomly. Try cleaning it with one of those cans that contain high pressure air. If that doesn’t help, perhaps there’s something wrong with the receiver. Contact the Hot Tub company as the iCast receiver they bundle with their spas (which is the responsible for controlling the playback navigation) is a customized version of our iCast. Receiver that has a different type of connector and they’re the only ones that can give you support for that piece of your system.

Frank, we can send you a new iCast Transmitter to see if that solves the problem, if it doesn't then you'll have to contact the Spa company like I said in my previous comment. Please write an email to me at this address with your information: [email protected]
